Time to play the fantasy football D/ST streaming game for Week 8! After the abysmal #Byepocalypse of Week 7 that saw six teams on bye, we catch a bit of a breather with only two teams taking the week off — Baltimore and Las Vegas. Let’s start by looking at the rankings for the defenses in action this week, starting with whoever is playing against Houston (which should be expected).

Week 8 D/ST Streaming Options

If you aren’t lucky enough to get one of the top defenses in action this week, don’t fret. There are streaming options available that can turn in some solid fantasy performances.

Seattle Seahawks (vs. Jacksonville Jaguars)

The quarterback that leads the NFL with the most interceptions thrown is Zach Wilson (9). Tied for second is (shockingly) Patrick Mahomes, (less shockingly) Trevor Lawrence, Joe Burrow, and Sam Darnold.

Seattle’s defense hasn’t been overly impressive this year, but they make for an intriguing streaming option going against a team like Jacksonville. If they can force Lawrence into turning the ball over and limit James Robinson on the ground, the Seahawks’ D will score some points.

Washington is coming off an impressive game against Green Bay. Yes, they still lost. Yes, their own offense is atrocious. However, they completely shut down Aaron Jones, sacked Aaron Rodgers 3 times, and held Green Bay’s offense to 24 points. Not bad.

This week, the Washington defense that seemed to find some of their mojo tees off against a Denver Broncos team that sputtered all night against the Cleveland Browns last Thursday. Teddy Bridgewater threw for only 187 yards, 2 TDs, and 1 INT. The Browns held Javonte Williams and Melvin Gordon to a combined 38 yards on the ground.

If Washington shows up like they did against Green Bay, they could force the 3-4 Broncos into a deep hole in the AFC and turn in a top-10 fantasy defense performance as a streaming option.

New Orleans Saints (vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers)

This one’s risky, I know. This is for you fantasy managers that don’t look at your roster all week, open your app on Sunday morning, and say, “Oh s%#!, the Ravens’ defense is on a bye and I need a replacement half an hour before kickoff.”

Step into my office.

While starting anyone against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is terrifying, the Saints have turned in some good performances this year. Additionally, they’re coming off a bye week. Sean Payton is excellent coming off a bye. The Saints are 18-2 since 2016 in his first four games after a bye week, including a stretch of seven consecutive wins after their bye last season.

The Saints are allowing the second-fewest rushing yards per game this year (ironically behind Tampa Bay) at 79.0 yards per game and have logged 10 takeaways in six contests. Also, Saints CB Marshon Lattimore lives rent-free in Buccaneers WR Mike Evans’ head. Their rivalry is well-documented, but Evans has averaged only 51.4 receiving yards per game in his 13 games against the Saints in his career.

It’s risky, but if you need a desperation play that has some upside, this is the streaming option for you.
